Services Provided

Figure Plastinates, Corrosion Casts, Embeddings and more

In addition to providing Sheet Plastinates to preserve large and thin slices of treated tissue, we also provide a variety of other services such as Figure Plastination, Corrosion Casting, Color Preserved Embeddings, Animal Skeletons, etc.

All models are created from actual tissue and are flexible, durable, odorless and life-like.

Figure Plastinate - Chicken

Figure Plastination

In figure plastinates, water and fat in tissue are replaced with plastic resin. Models appear similar to anatomical wet specimens but are dry making them durable. This allows for an enhanced hands-on learning experience.

Partial cross sections can be created which permit visualization of complex anatomy such as heart valves, nervous tissue and other internal sections.

Figure Plastinates are commonly used to study organs or whole animals.

Corrossion Cast - Heart

Corrosion Casts

In corrosion casts, colored polymers are injected into veins, arteries or airways and the surrounding tissue is removed, leaving behind a detailed model of the underlying vasculature.

These models are flexible, durable and provide an accurate anatomical representation of blood vessels.

Corrosion casts of airways, bile ducts, the urinary tract system, and lymphatic system are routinely used in teaching due to the impressive level of detail achievable.

Color Embedding - Canine Carpal joint

Color Preserved Embedding

Using a patented technique, anatomical specimens can be preserved to showcase the color, structure and X-Ray properties of an anatomical wet specimen.

These models are well suited for use in teaching of pathologically altered tissue. They are also used as dummy X-Ray specimens due to their level of X-Ray opacity and anatomical accuracy.
